the land of smiles…

I have never been this far away from home and it felt good. It is really amazing how you explore the new aspects of yourself when you are out of your comfort zone. I was in Thailand, Koh Samui, for couple days and then in Bangkok. I was really blown away by the culture and the manners… We are in hotel business, so I know the value of a honestly smiling face, it amazed me how everyone (seriously, every one we have seen and met) was amazingly friendly, smiling and respectful. They really deserve and live up to their slogan ‘The Land of Smiles’. The landscape also amazed me everywhere I go. I would probably become a fruitarian if I’d live there. There’s wide and tasty range of tropical fruits, I particularly adored rambutan and longan! Not to forget the coconut water, I drank liters of coconut water instead of water- it is almost identical to our blood plasma, so it is much more hydrating than any other water…

I think photos would tell much more than mere words, so enjoy the photo diary…

We enjoyed a wide variety of healthy Thai food such as mung bean pasta with Thai herbs.

Thai green curry // In the resort every herb they use was grown there, so it was a pleasant surprise to see different herbs such as holy basil, tamarind and cilantro when you are walking around.

coconut juice

Raw coconut juice is probably my favorite drink ever. It is a shame we don’t have it in Turkey so I always indulge myself with huge amounts when I am abroad.

I am by no means a yogini, but I really enjoy yoga and try my best to do the poses right. I also liked that there was a huge swing on the beach, it was really relaxing.

Can you name the raw vegan restaurants where you have eaten in Thailand? I am planning to travel there soon- BKK, Koh Samui and Koh Phi Phi Don and I haven’t found any raw vegan restaurants till now…

Hello Diana! I went to Koh Samui for detox, so I didn’t eat outside of the hotel.. Only in Radiance Restaurant in Spa Samui, which has a diverse raw food menu. We spend 3 days in Bangkok and because there were other people with me, I was following them rather than going to specific raw food restaurants- Thailand is great because you can find vegan/vegetarian food almost in every restaurant. I will suggest you however, to check Happy Cow website. This is a great website to find out the vegetarian/vegan/raw food and even health food stores in a specific area. http://www.happycow.net Happy surfing!
